Dental Nurse Course Overview:
The Dentistry market in the UK has seen significant growth over recent years. The Dentistry industry in the UK valued according to LaingBuisson in the fourth edition of Dentistry UK Market Report, at £5.8bn in 2013/2014, with £3.62bn (63%) of this spent by government and patients on NHS dentistry, and £2.2bn generated from private dentistry (37%). Recent regulations in this industry have made the course more crucial than ever.
Dental nurses are essential across the dental industry. They contribute significantly to the care of patients undergoing dental treatment and are vital members of the dental team. They act as a chaperone and the second appropriate person in the dental surgery. There are varied job roles once you are qualified to work in dental training, dental hospital or community dental services.
South London Academy has the City and Guilds Level 3 Diploma Dental Nursing a worldwide recognised qualification that would suit anyone who would like to develop a career in dental nursing. Once you become a qualified dental nurse and wish to pursue your career further you can become a dental hygienist, dental therapist, practice manager, dental tutor and dental assessor and you can work in general dental practices, in hospitals and with the community dental service, and also pursue a career in the armed forces. You would also be able to do a degree with certain universities then this course is for you.
If you want to train to become a qualified dental nurse and are able to attend the academy one day a week and also to be able to work in a dental training in placement for a minimum of 15 hours then this course is for you. You will need to sit a test before enrolling
Dental Nurse Course Structure:
The qualification consists of 15 compulsory units and 4 synoptic multiple choice exams and the whole qualification is worth 48 credits.
Students of dental nurse course can progress through the qualification by completing each of the units by completing a portfolio of evidence and using various methods of evidence to complete this, observations, workbooks, assignments, professional discussions, reflective accounts and witness testimonies.
Students of dental nurse course will achieve this by attending college to receive the knowledge required for each unit and being assessed by the academy’s assessor in their workplace.
The core topics that you will cover for the qualification is Health and safety, Cross infection, the roles and responsibilities of the dental nurse, preparing and maintain the clinical environment, assessment of the patient’s oral health, radiography, prevention of dental diseases, provision of prostheses, oral surgery, provide information to patients on protection of their oral health.
Dental Nurse Course Objectives:
Our dental nurse course is designed to get all students to achieve their City and Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing so that you can work as a qualified dental nurse and complete your General Dental Council (GDC) Registration and continue on your dental career pathway.

You will receive 5 certificates for the qualification 4 for the examinations and three for the whole qualification.
